Fundraising – Professional Help or on Your Own?

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

There are times when you cannot organize the fundraising event by yourself. This can be due to a number of reasons – you do not have the funds, you do not have the resources, you do not have the skills to organize such big scale event, your do not have good fundraising events ideas for the event, among other reasons. Fortunately, you can hire a professional fundraiser to help you organize your fundraising event. But is it really wise to hire a professional fundraiser? Or should you do it on your own?

What Is a Professional Fundraiser?

A professional fundraiser can be a company or an individual which or who you will hire to do some of the organizing for your fundraiser events. Their services and their rates vary, as well as the terms for payment. The usual term for paying a professional fundraiser is by paying a pre-set amount. The professional fundraiser will then provide with the tools and materials, or the items that will be used for your fundraising events.

Besides the fact that the professional fundraiser does most of the handiwork for the fundraising event, one of the main advantages of this service is that it can used by organizations and individuals who do not have funds for the endeavor. This is possible for a number of reasons. First, you can use a pre-order type of fundraising event – people order and pay for items, then you give them items after a few days. The professional fundraiser will give you catalogs, which will be used so the people can choose which item to buy. Both you and the professional fundraiser will get a cut from the revenue. Another method is through paying the professional fundraiser a certain percentage of the fundraising event’s revenue. The percentage can be discussed with the professional. This delayed form of payment works best especially for those who need to hold the fundraising events but do not have the cash.

Why Would I Not Want to Hire a Professional?

Of course, hiring a professional fundraiser can have a number of setbacks. For one, the delayed payment can cut a significant amount of revenue from your endeavor. This means you really have to make the effort to make the fundraising event a success—and earn a huge sum of money. Otherwise, you will be left with only a few dollars for your efforts.

Control can also be an issue here. After all, the service of professional fundraisers is limited to a certain extent. While their services for fundraising events are effective if done properly, they may not be what you have in mind. Hence, you will have to settle with what they have to offer.

The Decision is Yours

So with these advantages and disadvantages, you should now be able to decide if you will hire a professional fundraiser for your fundraising events. Of course, it cannot be denied their services are convenient—a great alternative if you are running out of fundraising events ideas.

Fundraising Events - Will Your Ideas Work?

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

So you have already planned your fundraising event - your fundraising events ideas are already put into action and everything is prepared. But if you think there is nothing else you can do in order to make your fundraising events ideas succeed, think again. The result of your fundraising event not only relies on how the event itself goes, but also on what you do after everything is settled and during the fundraiser event itself. Here are some of the things you can do in order to make you’re your fundraising events ideas will succeed:

Motivation

Properly motivate your manpower, especially if your staff is mainly composed of volunteers (meaning, you are not going to pay them). Motivate them by emphasizing the progress and the result of your fundraiser event. Set up a fundraising thermometer which can be downloaded online, for example. This can serve as a gauge of your progress—whether your fundraising event is succeeding or failing. Nonetheless, it will not fail to motivate your staff to work harder. You should also make them feel appreciated—give them a small honorarium if you can, or even a small token, especially if they are volunteering. This way, they will readily offer their services the next time you have a fundraising event.

Involvement

Be present at the fundraising event—and make your presence be felt by important people. If you can, talk to important people or those who can potentially donate significantly for your organization or your cause. This also makes them feel appreciated, since you are exerting effort to build a relationship with them.

Communication

And in line with the previous item, you should keep in touch with those who supported your fundraising event—from the volunteers to the donors. This way, they will never forget, and they will easily be within reach once you need their help again.

Competition

It is a good idea to research about the fundraiser events of other groups. However, try not to blatantly imitate their fundraising events ideas. Use their ideas and their concepts and give it your own special twist so it will become your own. Copying fundraising events ideas might attract the attention of people who are familiar with the fundraising event of the other group. Instead of helping your cause, they might mock your efforts.

Practicality

Make sure the products and service you will offer in the fundraising event is of good quality. This will ensure that many people will support your endeavor, and that they will continue to support your fundraising events in the future. Anything factor in your event that has bad quality can affect your chances to succeed.

Seizing Opportunities

Maximize the opportunity. For example, you are holding a benefit dinner fundraiser event. During the dinner, why not sell fundraising items to increase your revenue? This is neither awkward nor ill-placed; your supporters will understand your efforts as long as it is done properly.

One Word… Fun!

Lastly, make the fundraising event as lively as possible. This is so everyone will be encouraged to participate in the fundraising event.

Follow these simple guidelines and your fundraising event is sure to be a fun and profitable experience.

The Magna Carta, The Internet & You

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Have you heard of the Magna Carta?

It was a legal document created in the middle ages in England but it’s also an extremely important lesson in taking advantage of opportunity when Mr. opportunity presents itself.

The basic story goes like this…

In the middle ages in England the king had a lot of power.

Nowadays the monarch in England has only ceremonial power.

Back in the day, for example the king could…

- Take your daughter as his bed mate whenever he felt like it.

- Take your property.

- Falsely accuse you of just about anything and have you locked away forever without a fair trial or even take your head via execution.

And this treatment not reserved for the peasants it was also for the people who had titles, property, family background etc. - the creme of the English society.

The nobles, lords and barons were subject to the King’s wacky whelms.

Of course the nobles did not like the situation at all - who would?

But there was almost nothing they could do because the king always had the most money and always had the largest army.

He didn’t permit others to build a army beyond what people needed for their own personal security.

What did they do about this problem?

They decided to wait until the king was to weak to resist their demands for fairness and justice.

They waited and waited and waited - for generations.

Then finally,

( about the time of the infamous Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest fame)

… The time was right and then they sprang to action.

They forced then King John to sign a document giving them - only the nobles and not the peasants special rights as Englishmen that the king had to respect and honor.

The king was informed by the nobles…

…either sign this document or the noblemen would raise a army and remove him from the throne and also take his head.

King John had no choice - he signed the document now known as the Magna Carta.

All the stuff in western civilization about being judged by a jury of your peers and the right to a speedy trial etc. comes from this document.

Now the king could no longer…

- Take their daughters as his bed mate whenever he felt like it.

- Take their property whenever he pleased.

- Accuse them of just about anything and have them locked away forever without a trial or even take their head via execution.

- and a whole host of other activities they deemed unsuitable.

They had taken advantage of a outstanding opportunity to make life much better for them and the ones they would leave behind.

My hat goes off to them!

What does the Magna Carta have to do with the internet???

The internet is the new Magna Carta opportunity and the modern day land of opportunity.

A internet based business can…

- Give you another source of income…

- Give you extra money each month…

- Give you good money each month…

- Give you great money each month…

- Give you a source of income that could rival your income from your job and one day force you to make a big decision on whether to stay with your job of not.

- Earn you money to help pay for your children’s education.

- Help make sure you have a better retirement.

- Earn your financial freedom. ( can you put a price on that ?)

A friend once told me that his father used to say…

“life is like a ______ sandwich.

The more bread you have the less ______ you have to eat”

And it’s very true.

It’s late 2008 and the people of the world are supposed to be living much better.

But instead…

- People are working longer and harder for less money and benefits.

- Corporations are getting meaner and meaner and stingier and stingier.

- Prices are steadily rising but wages have not keep up.

- In the Western world, ends are getting harder and harder to meet and life is getting a lot more expensive.

- It’s getting harder and harder for people to prosper, have a nice retirement and leave a legacy for their heirs.

You must take action to protect yourself, those you love and those that will follow you into this world.

The good news is…

- You can slowly but surely learn how to earn with a online based business to give you and yours more financial options - while you have the opportunity to do so.

Important To Understand:

If you simply stay away from the hokey stuff such as MLM or any business plan that requires you to recruit people who have to recruit people in order for you to make nay money…

…you’ve escaped the fate of 98% of people that try to make money online.

If you’re involved now with any of that kind of stuff I besiege you to let it go as you will not profit using that internet business model.

Stick with plain and simple affiliate marketing to begin with whereas you don’t even have to have your own product.

You’ll earn your money by being sort of a middle man between product and service owners and people that want those products and services and you get paid a commission on every sale.

Are You Smart??

If you answered yes without any hesitation then you are the perfect candidate for running a highly profitable internet based business.

Take a Look At This Stat:

The fact of the matter is that 98% of people who are successful with their online based business are using the simple affiliate business model.

I’m talking about hundreds of thousands of people just like yourself making decent and often great money and that’s not including the 1 millions plus making decent money with Ebay.

Are Two Incomes Better Than one??

Just like two heads are better than one, two sources of income are much better than one-right?

Wouldn’t you feel better these days, knowing you have another source of income instead of just your job?

It’s best to start a business when you don’t need a business to feed your family and pay your bills.

Don’t wait until you get laid off, something else happens and you absolutely need the money.

An online based business is the modern day Magna Carta - so don’t you dare miss out.

TL Saunders has run a successful online based business for over 3 years and has taught a couple hundred people how to do the same. Discover the simple 5 step niche affiliate formula in my free report How To Create An Online Business. Also you can discover outstanding internet business models here.

Eloquent Reminders For Planning Your 2009 Business Ventures: Very, Very Hot!

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Having a recap for 2008 took around a full hour for some TV channels and around four full weeks of December, every single day until the New Year for other media channels. But putting it in simpler terms where you do not have to waste your precious time, a precise in-a-nutshell recap of 2008 most important realities that had some type of effect can be resumed in as little as one sentence or a simple article so you consider what you should choose to do in 2009 and what might happen if you elect to do nothing.

Year 2008 for the economy went in precise as: the famous bubble burst is finally out in the media, how much is worth your home right now and how much you owe on it or what’s the appreciated value? Second, everything in regards to or that can be associated with treasury, starts warming up. At this time lies about investing your money on many investing opportunities start jumping in many magazines and sufficient amount of TV channels for people who decided to have a keen eye on patterns for potential economy nightmares. Check some of my interesting articles and predictions back in 2006 and 2007.

Interesting, CDs begin having different set of patterns according to some newsworthy news. You check resources like the Morning Star online and some forums and the correct English term is swaps. Swaps and investments take place to protect the ultra rich and investors with equivalent power to avoid financial pockets of value to personally go bankrupt! Interesting, for some reasons a company called Enron boggled my mind as continue writing. Then, the mortgage collapse!

At this time for your own health you could not turn the TV on. You had from 2 to 100 financial experts or gurus talking about finances. But hey, without being sarcastic - many of say it’s good TV! Around this time, greed hit gas prices. For some reason, not every Arab likes the US! Next in no particular chronological order of historic disaster you have Lehman Brothers and bigger companies flocking into financial disaster.

At this time some international minds light a Cuban tobacco and interesting enough oil prices go record high. At this time, you probably said to yourself: do I need a BMW, Infiniti, Mercedes or a nice car to look or be even hotter? Or perhaps you predicted this much earlier and dump unnecessary luxuries. Then, the amount of corruption, fraud and coercion begins.

A prudent next step begins after, the bailout begins. Some if not all of 2006 and 2007 tax dollars are given to save Wall Street and million dollar parties among those who got richer or saved by the bailout go bigger than previous year as far recording and some TV news channels let us know. Unfortunately, it isn’t wishful thinking! It was and continues to be reality.

Then my next door neighbor boughs a shotgun! An economic freeze began at such times and 401k gets bigger volatile hits in people with such investments. Finally Obama wins and millions of people see him as the savior and winning strategist of the influential or should I say, past irresponsible leader leading America?

In ending review, if you had or already have multiple successful correctly ran businesses running on the internet: you survived or thrived on the worst of those days. If you did not, you learned a powerful lesson that should not ever repeat itself as you gain knowledge and experience. My question would be, what would you do in 2009 and every other year to thrive?

Planning Your 2009 Online Wholesale Store Correctly

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Whether you want to start earning more in a wholesale video games store, local business or project you have running, planning strategically is key. As by experience: tactical repertoires, intuition and your own gut feeling are excellent resources and assets you or someone you know may have a gift! However, if you have strategically planned before you either never lost which is incredible irresistible to remind yourself or, the chances of losing for you are slim when strategically planning?

Strategic planning should be number one and any other type of planning should go second this year and every other year. The best option for 2009 and every other year is strategic thinking and strategic planning. The overwhelming evidence to support the facts is on today’s greatest billion dollar and million dollar companies who thrive for many years. So rule number one, strategy first!

Once you have understood that strategy is your best choice, build your business plan. As simple as it reads! These are utterly ugly known words for most people, but reality being a business plan is a road map for both your year and your business. Great news is that a business plan can be started and done in as little as one page to guide you depending on the task, and if the business venture is larger you just expand on what you initially done in the first page.

Personally, for my wholesale video games endeavors I prepared a very simple business plan. For other new projects that are of interest to me I expanded, you should do the same from the start of your very first started page of your business plan. An excellent bargain guide that I read in my vacations is called the “One Page Business Plan” by Jim Horan. Go to Borders or any other book store and acquire it. It is an excellent, short and very precise way of starting, expanding and finishing a business plan.

The amount of time you put into your strategic planning, the less amount of time you will have to spend on brainstorming on what will be the best move, best position, and best course of action or conclusion for any challenging situation at hand. But what is strategic planning and how can you apply it to your business endeavors in 2009?

Putting it in layman terms for the benefit of everyone, strategic planning is nothing else than a course of actions already decided and planned by levels when certain steps get completed and done successfully when things go the way as planned or when things get challenging. As you probably know by now there is a big difference between knowing what you will end up doing and worst case scenario in case the unpredictable happen, than having to tactically create a quick brainstormed solution if things go wrong or the way you thought were supposed to happen.

Whether you end up creating your very first wholesale store on the internet, be it a wholesale video games, the latest Ron Jeremy DVD store, a fashion design handbag mall or any considered crazy idea heard that likely turns an excellent profit on the internet: be smart and think strategically by creating a business plan with strategy steps from point of start to point of finish. It would be worth the time if it turns a profit, right?

Different Types of Cable Ties

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

The invention of cable ties by Robert Thomas and Hobert Betts in 1898 has been of great use till this date and with the span of time we do witness splendid enhancements in the structure and durability of cable ties. This innovation was more of a work of art than a creation by engineers which they both were. The main purpose of a tie is to hold together an assortment or bundle of wires. However, in today’s world the use has been made more diverse with cable ties being used by police and military to tie the hands of criminals, and it really is tough to break free without getting wounds on the wrist.

These cable ties are available in various colours and as there are colours codes specified for them. However, the colour, black is the most acceptably and frequently used for outdoor purposes. Whereas, the blue ones are made of ‘Halar’ and used for places which are rich in radiation and red ties are linked with plenum.

Other than colour, cable ties are also available in various other materials and categories. Some of these include ‘miniature cable ties’, ‘heavy duty cable ties’, ‘extra heavy duty cable ties’, ‘standard cable ties’, ‘intermediate cable ties’ etcetera.

Miniature cable ties are used for the application of objects weighing below 18 lbs and those which are sensitive while handling. On the other hand, heavy duty cable ties can wrap objects that weigh up to 120 lbs; their measurement varies from 8 inches to 28 inches. It depends on the number of objects to be tied together and the accumulated weight as to which length of heavy duty cable ties is to be used.

Similarly, extra heavy duty ties are very useful for tying up weights going as high as 175 lbs and they can be as long as a total length of 60 inches. Moreover, there is even a type of cable tie known as extra heavy duty lashing tie which is made specifically for the purpose of holding things together having a weight of 250 lbs.

Releasable cable ties are reusable and can further be found in two sub categories; namely, ‘trigger release’ and ‘pawl release’. They are used for modifications later on in items that are already tied so that more could be added or pulled out. On the other hand, one can even find restricted bundle cable ties available in the market and even for sale on the internet. This type of ties forms a specific type of loop that is fixed and if fiddled with during shipment or transit can become very evident. The first way to observe any defect during journey would be very prominent through these restricted bundle cable ties once damaged. These ties are very effective in preventing pilferage to packages and boxes.

Likewise, standard cable ties are also available in many colours among which black, red and natural are very common. They can hold weights up to 50 lbs and are also widely used for domestic purposes. Similarly, intermediate ties are used by people who want to tie batches of 40 lbs products.

All of these cable ties except releasable and restricted bundles have the same procedure of wrapping, extending to a required tension and cutting. Moreover, a lot of colour variations are available including fluorescents. However, for applications that are extra sensitive to environment, there are special Tefzel Fluoropolymer and Halar ties.

Other varieties include ‘three hook cable ties’, ‘light’ and ‘strong strength cable ties’ which are similar to standard and heavy duty cable ties. However, ‘three hook cable ties’ is a patented design and very few companies offer it.

Buying Wholesale Products For Your Business

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Most people realize that starting up your own business can be a rather difficult and challenging task. Part of starting a business that sells any type of product is finding something worth selling to customers. This is where wholesalers come into the picture. In most cases you can count on finding a wholesaler that specializes in the type of product that you are looking to sell. Whether it is jewelry, shoes, plants, or tools, there are wholesalers that are hoping to help you stock your store. Part of buying from a wholesaler is finding exactly what you are looking for and finding wholesalers who are going to offer you and your business the best price for their products. A good way to figure out who to buy from is to visit a few different wholesalers and compare their prices.

If you are new to the business of buying through a wholesaler you should be aware that there are different types of suppliers. First there is the manufacturer. You will find that many manufacturers will actually sell their product directly to a retailer at a wholesale price. Often manufactures, like many wholesalers require that you buy in bulk or at a minimum quantity. If you find a product you really like but the manufacturer won’t sell to you then you might be able to buy it through a distributor. Another type of supplier is an Importer. As the name entails and importer allows you to purchase products from foreign companies. As mentioned, there are also distributors. A distributor often sells certain products or products from specific manufacturers. A bonus that many buyers discover when buying from a distributor is that unlike the manufacturer, a distributor doesn’t always require one to buy in bulk or in a minimum quantity. Of course there are also wholesalers in which many buyers choose to make their purchases from. There are many wholesalers who either specialize in one type or product, or some that sell a variety of products.

As with any type of business arrangement, it is extremely important to understand the aspects of any business arrangement that you make when purchasing products. When it comes to buying wholesale items it’s important to note all of the details in the description of the product that you are buying. If you are in the jewelry business then you need to make sure that you are buying actual gold or just gold plated products. If you are buying from a wholesaler who offers closeout or pallet merchandise you need to be aware of all the conditions of the purchase before you are locked into the deal. Part of make wholesale purchases as a business owner is doing your homework in advance and making sure that you completely understand what you are buying before you get it in your store and find that it wasn’t what you expected.

If you can’t find what you are looking for with the listed suppliers then don’t despair, there are still a few other options such as trade shows and auctions. Trade shows are a great place to find great wholesale products for your store and many cities hold tradeshows all year long, but you need to make sure to have proof of your business in order to gain admittance. As your business become successful you will find it easier to find the product that you want to sell from a variety of wholesalers.

Know Your Business Know Your Capabilities

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

The fourth of eight articles entitled ‘Know Your Business’, which explores how to identify the perfect business to run and is written by entrepreneur and multi business owner James Keightley, who runs his own ecommerce business and business coaching consultancy.

This articles looks at the next step in identifying the perfect business for you, how to identify the perfect skills and capabilities you enjoy and would be good at when running your own business.

The previous articles, ‘Know Your Business Know Your Environment’ and ‘Know Your Business Know Your Behaviours’ have explored how to identify what the most ideal environment is for you to operate in and then what behaviour you will be demonstrating in that particular environment.

However, it is important to make sure that the way in which we operate, what it is we do and enjoy doing is utilizing not only the skills and capabilities we are good at, but most importantly the ones that gives us real satisfaction.

So far we have spent a lot of time drilling down to identify where we like to do what it is we like doing the most, so now you can start to think about what skills it is you like to use the most in those preferred environments.

Ask Your Self – first start off by reflecting on what skills you like to use the most. Think about some of the behaviours you like doing and ask yourself what skills do these utilise and which you enjoy the most. Note down what they are and start a list of skills.

Go For A Walk – time for another walk as this is always good for stimulating thinking and provides you with the solitude to reflect and consolidate on your existing thoughts. See if you can identify any other skills you enjoy doing, no matter how trivial you think they are. It could be planning, writing, organising, prioritizing, devising, questioning, listening, supplying, rehabilitating, restoring etc.

Write A Sort Story – write another short story about something you enjoyed doing and explain what you did, how you did it, what challenges you faced, how you over came these and what the outcome was. Having written the story read through it and pull out all of the skills and capabilities you identify yourself as demonstrating.

Go For A Walk – get yourself out for some more fresh air and reflect of the short story to see if you can identify any other skills and capabilities that it reveals. Make a note of these and add these to your skills list. Also reflect on the short stories you wrote for environment and behaviour to see if these throw up any skills you have not thought of and add these to your list of skills.

The Yellow Pages – the good old Yellow pages is an excellent source of inspiration, in fact you can also use this to reflect on what your ideal business environment and behaviour is. Turn to the index and look at all the services advertised such as garden designers, taxi services and so on. Think about each one and ask yourself what skills you think each particular one might require and if you think any are ones you have or think you could acquire and would enjoy. Add these to your list of capabilities.

Go For A Walk – you may have found the last task quite tedious and so you will no doubt be ready for another walk so you can spend some quiet time thinking about any other skills and capabilities that leafing through the Yellow pages might have prompted. Notes these down and add them to your list.

Ask Others – email friends and family and ask them what skills and capabilities they think you have, are good at and seem to enjoy and then add these to your list.

Like before it is time to whittle your skills and capabilities down to the three which you feel you would enjoy using the most and to be the core of your business. However, it must be remembered that running a business requires you to be a jack of all trades, but what we are looking for here are the three preferred skills and capabilities that you will use to inform and shape what you decide is the ideal type of business for you to run.

Write each skill down on a piece of paper and as before pick two up at a time and ask yourself which you would be prepared to sacrifice in favour of the other if you had to and then place your preferred skills in a separate pile. Repeat the process with all of the skills until you have a pile of preferred skills. If there are more than three then repeat the process with your pile of preferred skills until you have just three left. Then note these as your three most preferred skills.

My skills were planning, organizing and studying.

Before moving on to the higher Logical Levels that are relevant to running your own business we will be consolidation on the three preferred environments, behaviours, skills and capabilities you have identified so far.

Self-Help Reviews For Even More Productivity For Greater Businessess!

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

There is a list of steps to improve your wholesale marketing. Whether it is selling the newest electronic or selling the latest in-demand, the better you market and the more you market, the better it usually is. No matter whether you are at an office or your office happens to seat at your home like the one of many of us, do know that there are simple gadgets and simple tools that can help you immediately boost your productivity time fast.

Among the books that are definitely worth your time reading in order to improve your marketing schedules on the internet, again no matter what is that you are doing: here is a good slice review for you to highly consider. Applying the techniques, strategies and suggestions added in these two fascinating books makes all the difference between getting by, and getting what you want faster.

The first one was an audio that going through iTunes store definitely catch my eyes immediately as it was in the top 3 of the best sellers there. Better yet it has glorious feedback on Amazon. When it comes to marketing, the majority of us are more than ok and even great when we intend to do the job we are supposed, which is to sell.

But among the list of audio books that should be of great interest to you since there is always more time to improve is a book or an audio book called Getting Things Done by David Allen. The majority of the time when we already know what to do, it is all about doing the work or improving it even more. The audio version of Getting Things Done is excellent as it helps systemize your work by showing you examples of how to prioritize and goes deep into the psychological bolts of why we sometimes do not achieve things faster.

Getting Things is surely an excellent hit in my arsenal of self-help books. Books like this whether you are a season pro or a millionaire should help you more, just one idea to schedule and implement could mean a 10% increase in productivity, especially if you work from your home. It goes deep into the psychological aspects of procrastination, but surely a golden nugget if already you have enough options and reads about marketing. In a nutshell, this book is the cure for getting things done immediately and finishing them. Next you have a priority book that can be a magnificent read of new significant light if you have never read a book about building a business plan.

In reality, the majority of us like to keep simple, schedule and put things in easy to read form in short term, 2-5 years goal and goals for the long term in 10 years. If you want to start your very first wholesale video games business or electronics business one of the books in my list is called The One Page Business Plan for The Creative Entrepreneur by Jim Horan. Once you are ready and believe you have a good grasp at some important concepts from those books getting a wholesale list should be a next consideration to start your very first e-commerce business or improve upon the one you already have.

For Here or To-Go?

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

For years, the “takeout food” industry has relied upon the telephone. If someone wanted a pizza for example, he/she would call the local pizza restaurant, tell the person on the other end what was desired, give delivery instructions, and then wait. The food would arrive, and everyone wins. Sometimes however the order taker would write the order out incorrectly for kitchen staff, or the delivery driver would forget something. This would naturally lead to the customer’s dissatisfaction. Technology has changed this routine just a little bit.

Over the years some restaurants changed over to handling takeout orders by fax machine. They did so in an effort to free employees time such that they can focus on other areas, such as actually preparing food. Even the fax machine however is now starting to be replaced by alternate technology.

In more recent times, customers have been able to order via the internet. The customer goes online places the order exactly the way it is desired. Like magic, the order arrives. On the other end, the restaurant receives the request via facsimile or on a computer, and makes the order to the customer’s request. While this method increased the odds of satisfying the customer, it still left room for improvement.

Technology has led us to an even more efficient way of handling takeout orders. The customers will still be able to place their orders online. The difference is at the restaurant end. Instead of having to deal with a fax machine, and monthly cost of a phone line, or possible computer failure, they can utilize an SMS Printer.

An SMS Printer is a device that receives SMS messages (e.g. customer orders), and then prints out for the intended recipient. There is no phone line required. The SMS Printer is run by a mobile connection. The convenience of it is that it may sit in any location that has an electrical outlet nearby. Placing it in the kitchen just may be the ideal location, since those are the people who will be fulfilling the order. In some situations, it may be better to place it nearby customer service representatives. Either way it is small enough that it may go just about anywhere convenient to the restaurant.

The idea of the SMS Printer is to process an order with little or no flaws. The customer may go online and request a specific meal, their order will then be forwarded seamlessly by the website to the SMS Printer located in the restaurant which will then print out the details.

Fax machines were great for a while, but they became a hassle. They typically could only go in the office. The fax required both an electrical outlet and a phone outlet. During dining hour’s staff would normally either be making food or assisting the restaurant in other areas. The office is the last place to expect to find someone during a busy dinner rush.

SMS Printers, and other modern technology permit employees to focus their time on serving customers rather than the administrative overhead of taking orders over time intensive mediums such as the telephone.
