How to Get Selected to Participate in a Reality Show

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

With television turning more and more toward reality shows, it has opened up the world of entertainment to you and me, common viewers. Suddenly, anyone can participate in show biz, but you are going to have a lot of competition. So, how do you manage to get selected to participate in a reality show? There are a few tricks that will help put you in the running.

Read the Instructions

The most important part of trying out for a reality show is to make sure that you read all the instructions first. These will go over the rules and what is required of you, a potential participant. Since a lot of people will mess this simple step up and not follow all the rules, leaving some things out, you`ll find that you have a far better chance of beating out the competition if you ensure that your application conforms to everything they`ve asked for.

Practice, Practice, Practice

If you are aiming for a reality show that requires some talent, like American Idol or America`s Next Top Model, then you need to start practicing now. Learn that song by heart and work out all the kinks before the audition. Strut your stuff up and down your living room until you have the diva walk down. Previous episodes of the reality show will give you pointers on how you can improve.

Prepare

This might sound suspiciously like the previous tip, but there is a difference. While practice might make perfect, you will find that some reality shows like Project Runway, will require you to have things prepared. For example, you`ll need to have some very well made garments ready to show the judges if you`re going to be trying out for Project Runway!

Getting some credentials might help, as well. For example, many cooking shows look for chefs who have already studied and possibly even worked in a restaurant or two. You`ll notice the token non-chefs in each show, but the majority of them have some credentials. This is all part of preparing for the audition process.

Make a Killer Application Video

Most reality shows require you to send in an application video before you will even be considered for an audition. There are a few things to keep in mind for the video.

Don`t be boring. If you just stand there and talk or sing, chances are you`ll be eliminated before you even get a face to face.

Be creative. The best videos are ones that show you from a unique angle and that capture the judges` interest right from the beginning. This isn`t always easy, but if you are serious about getting on the reality show, then you can put in the time required to brainstorm a great video idea.

Keep it clean. A risqu? video might catch their attention, but in general, shows aren`t going to be looking for the person with the best dirty joke or who bares all. Stay a little on the conservative side while having fun and you`ll be more likely to get in.

Confidence Counts

Judges are far more likely to approve someone who is confident and friendly and who doesn`t flip out over a little criticism, so take it easy.

There are many things that will help you get accepted for a reality show, but the best way to get on one is to simply make sure you meet the requirements. You might enjoy watching Top Chef, but if you`ve never cooked a meal in your life, it`s probably not the best one to apply for. Instead, do your research and fill out your application carefully, following all the rules.

The Beatles: The White Album is 40

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

My all time favorite album turned 40 this week. The Beatles self titled double album was released on November 22, 1968. It’s better known as The White Album due to it’s white cover. It was The Beatles only double album and their only self titled album. I also believe it was their best album (and considering the competition that is saying a lot.)

Sure not every one of the album’s 30 tracks is up to The Beatles usual incredibly high standards. Songs like “Goodnight” and “Don’t Pass Me By” (sorry Ringo) won’t ever rank among The Beatles best and in fact they do rank among their worst. But even the not so great songs seem to add to the album’s character. And these few weak tracks are definitely exceptions and not the rule.

Some would say that these weak tracks are an indication that the album should have been a single album instead. I strongly disagree. 13 or so tracks probably would have had to have been cut to make it into a single album and there’s no way there are 13 tracks that could be cut from The White Album.

To me it’s the great variety of The White Album that helps to make it so timeless and so endlessly listenable. It’s the one album I seem to never get bored of. It’s amazing how I still hear new things in the songs all of these years later. I first heard The White Album about 12 years ago and I am still blown away by the nuances and musical layers of these songs. I wouldn’t call the album a “grower” as that term is usually reserved for an album one doesn’t initially enjoy and then grows to like. This is an album I initially loved and then grew to love even more and more over the years.

Songs such as “Martha My Dear” and “Honey Pie” may have seemed like “throwaways” when I first heard it but now they seem essential. These are brilliant songs that show The Beatles at a creative peak. They weren’t merely trying to repeat what they had already done, they were always looking for new song styles to try, new ways to create. If you’re the type that enjoys hearing the same song over and over again (hello Nickelback fans!) then sure this may not work for you but if you’re the type that actually likes to hear imagination at play then it certainly is.

“Revolution #9″ is often brought up as the biggest example of The Beatles “going too far.” Once again I strongly disagree. To me “Revolution #9″ is a vital part of The White Album and I love that it was included. I think, still to this day, it’s the most unusual track ever to be included on a #1 album. That alone would make it an interesting listen. But it’s more than just unusual. It’s an extremely effective track for what it is. It’s aim is to be unsettling. To take the listener on a sort of stream of consciousness journey and to that end it works extremely well. While I do not listen to this track every single time I put on the album (I admit to often stopping the album at “Cry Baby Cry” and thus skipping “Revolution #9″ and “Goodnight.”) when I do listen to it, I enjoy it.

I far prefer that experiments such as that are included rather than hearing an album chock full of average tracks that all sound the same.

The contrasts of The White Album are brilliant. From “Helter Skelter” the album moves to “Long Long Long.” That has to be among the most intense contrasts in rock history. “Helter Skelter” is the heaviest song The Beatles ever recorded and “Long Long Long” is the quietest. These songs are the perfect representation of what The White Album is. Variety, contrast, imagination, and excellence.

Matthew Yoho recommends buying acoustic guitars online. You can find vintage acoustic guitars and acoustic guitar beginner packs online too. The White Album has a lot of great songs you can play on your acoustic guitar such as “Blackbird” and “I Will.”

The History of Kawai Pianos

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

The amazing quality of Kawai pianos stems from the careful dedication of the company to maintaining the impressive sound. It`s a sound that has been described as a blanket of velvet…something that one really must experience personally in order to understand.

In the Beginning

Koichi Kawai started the Kawai Musical Instrument Research Laboratory with several other men back in 1927. As a pre-teen, Kawai had been recruited by Torakusu Yamaha as apprentice in his piano workshop. The young man worked hard and was a key factor in the production of many award-winning pianos by Nippon Gakki Co., founded by Yamaha.

Kawai decided to work on his own projects years later, after Yamaha had passed on and the company was in trouble due to a difficult economy. He took 7 co-workers with him and the eight of them formed the new lab.

Kawai`s goal was to create a better piano and his first success was the creation of the very first piano action in Japan. This allowed him to build cheaper pianos, now that it was no longer necessary to import the actions. Within a year, the lab began to turn out upright pianos and then a grand piano.

A Name Change and Expansion

In 1929, just two years after the lab had been founded, the name was changed to Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co. and the business underwent several changes over the following years, including becoming a partnership venture and yet another name change, to Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Ltd.

1930 saw the expansion of the company as they began to produce reed organs. But change was on the horizon.

Pausing for War

Like many production factories during World War II, Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing, Ltd. left off making pianos during the war to produce much needed aircraft parts for the war effort.

Though the war officially ended in 1945, the Japanese struggled to get back on their feet after devastating losses and it wasn`t until three years later that Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing, Ltd. was able to return to the production of musical instruments. It didn`t take long for the business to recover and soon they had over 500 employees and were producing 1,500 pianos per year.

Kawai developed and built his first concert piano, which won the Blue Ribbon Medal of Honor. Just two years later, Koichi Kawai passed away and his son, Shigeru, took over the company, which was now incorporated. He turned the family business into something more modern by updating certain techniques and combining the original handcrafted quality with faster, more modern production.

A Whole New World

The younger Kawai was as much an entrepreneur as his father and pushed hard to grow the company. Once the supply outgrew the demand, he came up with a novel idea to promote sales and started the Kawai Academy of Music to train teachers who were then dispatched to teach in Kawai Music Schools across the country. Door to door sales helped boost the demand for their pianos, as well.

He also set up the Kawai Piano Technical Center to turn out trained piano technicians to provide maintenance of purchased instruments. Within a few more years, the company even had its own retail stores that sold pianos and also provided tuning and repair services. Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd. moved into America in 1969 and was soon established there, as well.

1989 saw a third generation take control of the company and Kawai Pianos are still some of the most popular musical instruments in the world. The company continues to produce top quality products and expand into new areas of development on a continual basis.

Visit our piano store Toronto and check out the diverse selection of pianos we offer. Whether it is a Fazioli, Baldwin, Kawai or Grotrian, you can be certain of the quality and price ranges.

Elmo Live - Top Christmas Present

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

The Elmo Live Doll is the latest in a long line of interactive Elmo toys that kids just can’t get enough of. The craze started over 10 years ago with the ‘Tickle Me Elmo.’ That toy is now quite unimpressive when you put it next to Elmo Live!

The designers of this latest Elmo edition designed the doll so that it would appear as much like a real muppet as possible. They carefully designed the mechanics until they had something that was pretty realistic. In fact, they achieved their goal so well that they eventually had to take a little bit of the functionality out to bring the price down to something more parents could readily afford. The doll certainly doesn’t suffer from the downgrade; you’ll be amazed at all it can do.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Elmo doll is that it looks just like the one on TV. There are many toys that suffer in the translation from TV screen to real life. Elmo makes the transition very smoothly. Just like you’d expect from watching his show, Elmo’s fur is bright red and super soft. Keep in mind that Elmo does have motors inside of him, so this isn’t going to be one that your children’s sleep with at night! I was very impressed by Elmo’s appearance.

Elmo comes packed with batteries already so you can literally pull him out of the box and get started. He is ‘dumbed down’ for display purposes at first, but you can release his full functionality by simply pulling a protective tag out of his foot.

To play with Elmo you’ll just need to stand him up with his stool behind him (the stool is included). Then, you can either grab his nose, push his belly, or push one of his feet and he will start talking and moving around. Grabbing his nose results in hearing a honking sound or Elmo asking for his “nose back, please!” Pushing his belly can get him to dance. Pushing on his foot will result in some delightful (and motion-filled) stories. Elmo never gets boring because he has many different responses stacked away. I found his stories, jokes, and comments to be very funny and fun to listen to.

The only problem I found with the Elmo Live Doll is that his motor and movements can sometimes be quite loud. It’s not so loud that you can’t hear what he’s saying, but you do find yourself wishing that the noise wasn’t there. Still, for such an advanced and fun toy It’s a small quirk that’s easy to put up with.

It is also important to note that Elmo works best when standing on a solid surface. He is prone to falling over once he tries to sit down on his stool and cross his legs! Still, even when he does fall down it’s entertaining! He will request that you pick him up and then he’ll say, “thank you!”

The Elmo Live Doll is definitely one of the hottest toys out there for the Christmas 2008 season. It is also selling out incredibly fast since no one can wait to get their hands on the most interactive and life-like Elmo yet. Children and adults, young and old will get a kick out of Elmo for years to come.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Movie Now in 3D Animation

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Tim Burton’s classic Christmas/Halloween movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas has quickly become one of the most renowned animated holiday films in movie history and now it has been remade in 3D animation making it even better. Though parts of this holiday movie classic seems a bit too graphic for some of the younger children, this film is a wonderful musical (music and lyrics by Danny Elfman) with a very good message for all of us. The entirety of The Nightmare Before Christmas was created with stop-motion animation, and in view of the fact that it’s centered around the spooky Halloween holiday, it was given an overall dark tone. Jack Skellington (the Pumpkin King), the film’s brooding protagonist, is a living skeleton who walks, talks, and sings beautifully (Danny Elfman sings for Jack). Each and every Halloween, it’s Jack’s duty to organize the holiday of Halloween for the world, but this Halloween, Jack feels like there something missing in his life so instead of preparing for Halloween, Jack searches for a way to fill the emptiness in his life.

During his search of self discovery, Jack finds a strange doorway in a tree which leads him to a wondrous place called Christmas town. It does not take very long for Jack to fall under the spell of goodwill shown by the cheery inhabitants of Christmas town. He soon becomes completely captivated with Christmas town and Christmas. After Jack learns about the legend of Santa Claus, he decides to tell all of his friends in Halloween town about the wonders he has just witnessed. Although the townspeople in Halloween town are hoping to make the next Halloween even more frightening than the last, Jack convinces them to celebrate Christmas instead. With the aid of Lock, Shock and Barrel, three trick-or-treaters who are more tricksters than treaters, Jack kidnaps Santa Claus. From there, everything begins to go completely wrong.

The Nightmare Before Christmas transforms into a fascinating story about being happy with one’s self, and while the chief message is good, there are elements to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas that might be a bit too scary for the younger kids. Some of the movie’s characters, like Sally and her “master” for instance, have a very dark, almost macabre look to them and can be very frightening to some younger children. In addition to her gruesome appearance, Sally, who is the main female character of The Nightmare Before Christmas is sometimes abused by her “master “, which can be a bit upsetting to some children. There is one scene in particular that can upset some children. It’s the scene where the Oogie Boogie Man kidnaps and attempts to do away with Santa Claus. I’m a firm believer in watching questionable movies with smaller children so you can help them tell the difference between good and bad, fantasy and reality.

With that said, there is nothing in The Nightmare Before Christmas that is too far over the top. I found The Nightmare Before Christmas to be a fantastic film that is loaded with holiday spirit, beautiful music and eye-catching graphics. The best is yet to come now that it has been released on BlueRay DVD in 3D animation. I found a place for it on my shelf alongside my other great classic Christmas movies.

ZapADeal Makes the Online Auction World Entertaining

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Move over eBay, there’s a new site in town! ZapADeal is a brand new online auction site that is turning the online auction world upside down. Why? Because ZapADeal has created something called “reveres auctions.” In a reveres auction, the “bidder” causes the price of the auction item to go down instead of up. Let me repeat that, the price of the item goes down. It actually keeps going down until it reaches zero, than the last bidder wins the item for free.

That’s why we call it online auction entertainment. You can’t sell anything on ZapADeal, only the site owner’s list items. And, all items on ZapADeal are brand name, brand new items. Items like a brand new 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, and many different iPods and iPhones, Mac Notebooks, Nintendo Wii’s, and the list just keeps going on. Everything is brand new and maintains the factory warranties.

How can ZapADeal afford to put on an online auction like this? Well, it really is a simple yet very smart concept. Let me explain. Let’s take a brand new Nintendo Wii that would sell for $350. It would be listed on ZapADeal and start at $350, but the price is always hidden. Every time someone clicks on that item the current price is revealed to them and the item price drops 20 cents. This continues to happen until eventually the price reaches zero, at the time the last bidder wins the item. Now, the key on this is every time you click on the item to reveal the current price it costs you 1 credit. 1 credit equals anywhere from 50 cents to 2 dollars. Remember, the price only dropped 20 cents on that click where you spent 50 cents. So on every click there is a 30+ cent profit for the company.

You may be thinking, “That’s not that great of a deal, spend 50 cents to save 20.” That’s where you are wrong, because if you are the last person to click on it before it reaches zero, you just spent 50 cents to buy a $350 Nintendo Wii. That’s why it’s called Online Auction Entertainment. It’s an entertaining social game. You are competing with people allover the world to be the last person to click and the winner wins the item.

ZapADeal has positioned itself as the new social networking site, the latest and greatest gaming site, and a legitimate way save big money on great brand name items. The people who win these items will tell you, the reward is worth the cost.

Now, ZapADeal has several other auction styles as well, the bid to zero I just described is simply the most common one. I recommend heading over there and checking it out for yourself. You just might win that 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. At the very least you’ll have a good time. You can also go to Google and do a search for ZapADeal and find out some more information about this unique and fun online auction

Online Auction Entertainment is a website dedicated to ZapADeal. It has information, audio and video to help you get all the information you will need to explore ZapADeal. Visit www.OnineAuctionEntertainment.com for more information

How to Entertain Guests With a Card Party

Monday, December 1st, 2008

The easiest way to entertain guests is by having a card party. You can be certain that none are neglected, and that all have a good time. Since cards may be played at any hour of the day, they alone may be the reason for the occasion. Or they may precede or follow a breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Afternoon card parties are the most popular and easy to arrange for, because they offer the host an opportunity to entertain formally or informally, and with as little or as much expense as desired, and still be correct socially!

Auction is the most popular card game today, but Five Hundred, Euchre, or any other game played by the friends of the hostess is equally correct.

In preparing for a card party, you should, as a host, look up the correct rules for playing, scoring and progressing, and read them to your guests before the game starts, or else have a copy of the rules printed for each table. This will avoid all discussion and unpleasantness due to misunderstanding of the rules or variations in customs.

Another necessary provision for all entertaining with cards is the selection of one or two new decks of cards for each table, as the game requires, and an extra pack or two for emergencies. The cards can be inexpensive but well printed ones, with a durable finish. The money spent for new cards that slip easily will give your guests more pleasure than the most elaborate decorations, accessories, or refreshments.

Never invite more guests for cards than can be seated comfortably in your rooms, leaving free passage between the tables. It is better to give two successive parties at which the guests can be taken care of comfortably, than one large, crowded affair at which no one has enough elbow room.

Tables and Chairs: Place the tables for a progressive card party in a circle or in as straight a line as possible, to prevent confusion in changing tables. If the games are more than four-handed, it is better to use round tables. Uniform folding chairs and tables may be rented in cities. To make room for the extra tables and chairs, some of the regular furniture may be moved out of the room in which cards are played.

How to Organize a Card Club: The woman, or group of women, who wishes to organize a card club, writes notes to a certain number of congenial people, requesting them to meet at a designated place to discuss the formation of the club. It is a good idea to ask one person less than the number needed to make up the desired number of tables. Then the host for the day always has the privilege of asking an honor guest.

Rules for the club can be decided upon at the initial meeting. To shorten the preliminaries, the sponsors should have written down tentative suggestions regarding place and frequency of meetings, hours of play, fines, dues, number of prizes, prize giving and taking, refreshments, and methods of obtaining substitutes and inviting new members. There should be hard and fast rules covering all these points, if harmony is to abide with the organization. If it is deemed necessary, and the rules chosen for the club require them, a president, treasurer, and secretary may be elected, and a prize committee, either appointed by the president or elected by the members, may be selected. The treasurer of the club would be the logical chairman of this committee. The secretary of the club should keep track of meeting places, inviting new members, etc.

David Morrell’s The Spy Who Came for Christmas

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

“A terrific holiday gift from David Morrell–the father of the modern action novel delivers a unique, edge-of-your seat thriller with amazing twists and riveting characters.”

- Vince Flynn, New York Times bestselling author of Protect and Defend

“Exciting, moving, and terrifically clever–once again, David Morrell proves that he is a titan among thriller writers.”

- Joseph Finder, New York Times bestselling author of Power Play

THE SPY WHO CAME FOR CHRISTMAS

by David Morrell

The Spy Who Came for Christmas is a genre-breaking holiday story unlike any other - a thriller with intense, edge-of-your seat action, set against a spy’s perspective on the traditional Nativity story. As bestselling author Joseph Finder has said about the novel: “…once again, David Morrell proves that he is a titan among thriller writers.”

It’s Christmas Eve in Santa Fe. But among the revelers on snow-blanketed Canyon Road, a decidedly unholy scene is taking place. A desperate undercover agent, Paul Kagan, feverishly seeks refuge for himself and the squirming bundle he holds tightly against his chest, a baby who has the power to change the course of global events.

His pursuers are his former colleagues—members of the Russian mafia who will stop at nothing to reclaim the child that Kagan has risked his life and blown his cover to steal from them. Now he is a spy on the run who must ensure the baby’s survival, even if it costs him his own life.

Just a short distance away, Kagan will find an unexpected pair of allies—a mother and her young son who huddle together after an incident of domestic violence leaves them alone, their phone lines cut, and with no means of transportation.

Kagan quickly realizes that he must enlist their help to survive. With the exquisitely honed skills of his profession and the good faith of a weary woman and a disillusioned boy, he takes on forces that will stop at nothing to get to them. In the course of a wild and violent night, the unlikely trio learns lessons of generosity, courage, and selflessness, discovering within themselves the luminous strength of the Christmas spirit.

Few thriller writers are as praised as David Morrell, who has been called “the father of the modern action novel.” Now this New York Times bestselling author delivers a masterwork of suspense that is sure to become a holiday classic, one of his most emotional and gripping stories to date.

Review of Fear From the Heavy Rock Band Toxic

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

The whispering clamour surrounded me and as it grew in intensity my fear of what was to come grew stronger. Suddenly the chanting started, the dread inside me rose as the chants grew louder and my anticipation greater. Each drum beat took me closer to the edge… a scream …then Preludium…

Fun over! As I looked at the hellish images on the Toxic album Fear just before I inserted the disc into my CD player I wondered if I had something to be afraid of. A whimsical thought I know but those thoughts continued as I looked at the play list:

01) Preludium

02) Lucifer

03) Fear

04) Live On

05) I am the Fire

06) Panic

07) Tinnitus

08) Feed me Bitch

09) Freedom

10) Truth

11) Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained

12) Greed

13) Every Beating is a Lie

14) Fear None

Those titles are not exactly pussy footing around, but my fears continued in a good way as I listened to Preludium. It began with the type of sound effects that are used to create fear and anticipation in horror films and then chanting as if a black magic ceremony was going on. My imagination was working overtime by the time the band kicked in with powerful vocals and backing. I’m told that Preludium was recorded in a large cathedral type of room and that it sounded wicked – I can imagine that!

The other tracks that stood out for me were:

Feed me Bitch – despite the title I loved this track. ‘You’ve got to be poor to feed the rich’ that’s true. A contrast of sounds with an edge that made me feel the music almost as much as Preludium.

I am the Fire reminded me a bit of Black Sabbath. A full on rock track that got me jumping. To get the full effect I wished that I were listening at a concert and not in my sitting room, but second best was still good.

Every Beating is a Lie tells you to stand up for your rights and not to let them hold you down. I absolutely agree with that. Musically I enjoyed listening to this stirring track and as with all over the other tracks Toxic are getting a good message across.

Fear None is a good finale to the album, strong instrumentals but it does get a bit screechy in places. Not enough to scare my cat who seemed to be enjoying it as much as I was. Seriously, I like the vocals, the instrumentals and the mad contrasts and was disappointed when the track faded out to nothing and half expected them to come back and shock me.

After listening to the 14 tracks several times I can reveal that there was nothing to be afraid of from Fear. I enjoyed listening and can recommend the album to anybody who likes heavy rock. It’s crazy in places, a creative album of unexpected events that left me wanting more. My favourite track has to be Preludium because it was so atmospheric and captured my imagination. Well done Toxic it isn’t often that happens.

Some Very Useful Guitar Clean-up Tips

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Guitar, a dynamic musical instrument, is played in almost all kind of music; be it pop music, rock music, lounge music, country music or even contemporary classical music. The modern music can`t be imaginable without guitar.

The demand of guitar in every music sphere has made it one of the most sought after musical instruments. As guitar is an expensive musical instrument, it only makes sense to take proper care so that you can continue playing it for years to come. Here are a few tips discussed in the following on how to clean this amazing musical instrument so that its longevity can be increased.

Dust is the main form of debris that is collected on the surface of guitar. Don`t let dust cover on your guitar for dust buildup that can actually affect your guitar`s performance. A very simple approach to keep your guitar clean is by regular dusting. You can wipe off your guitar with a clean and soft cloth. You can either opt for any of your old but clean cloth or you can purchase special cloths that are available in music stores.

If you are a bit fancy about your cleaning, then you can choose many products available in the market that are designed for cleaning guitars. Guitar cleaners, fancy cleaners, liquid solvent and even solutions especially meant for cleaning the fretboard of guitars are available. If your guitar has a matte finish surface, it is suggested to use a water-based guitar cleaner as the creamy polished cleaners have a tendency to be slightly abrasive.

Often sticky residues from tape or stickers are left on guitars, which are a bit tough to remove. Use only mineral spirits or any other lighter fluid such as naphtha to remove the stains on your guitar. These solvent won`t harm the finish of your guitar. You just have to damp cloth with the solvent and wipe off the tape and stickers of your guitar. It might be surprising, but if you clean and dry your hands before you start playing on your guitar, it will significantly lengthen the life of your strings.

Like cleaning, polishing is equally important. A polish from a good brand not only gives your guitar an excellent shine, it also preserves the wood of your guitar. However, you should always choose a polish that is designed specifically for guitars as any general polish might ruin the smooth finish on guitars. But be careful of covering only the major surfaces of your guitar. Areas such as bridge or tuners or even the neck region of the guitar should not be polished.

Another major area which needs regular cleaning is the fingerboard of a guitar which includes the strings and the fret wire. These areas are prone to high-temperature and humidity and also of acidity by the constant touch of the player`s hands. The lower-end manufactured guitars especially suffer from this fret buzzing problem.

Though some simple adjustments raising the string action can correct the problem for some time, but this is not a permanent solution. If the surface of the fingerboard is not much damaged, a simple application of lemon oil can prevent the wood from further cracking. It is suggested to use a piece of extra fine grade steel wool to clean the fingerboard of your guitar. Don`t wet the steel wool; just rub it in up and down motion of the fingerboard area without catching the ends. The frets will be shiny only after a few motions.

Last but not the least is how and where you store your guitar. A guitar-case is a must and it should not be stored in too humid, warm or even too cold surroundings. Also make sure it does not get bumped around. An interior closet is the best place to store guitar.
