Horse Race Trading Formula - Strategies, Systems And Success For Betfair - Part 1

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

In any form of financial trading there are two terms which you will first need to fully understand before proceeding to the next stage.

The fundamentals of any trading system are the same whether it be stocks and shares, bonds, forex, spread betting or of course the betting exchanges.

1. Liquidity - Cash

2. Volatility - News

Lets start with liquidity or “cash”.

1. Cash is what physically creates/ moves markets.

2. Cash is what physically drives prices up or down, (bullish or bearish).

3. Cash determines how far a trend goes and when it will end.

The more cash coming into a system (buying positions) the longer a trend will last, so making it easier to trade successfully (in theory).

Markets of all types are self perpetuating, as we have seen over the last few years in the UK, bubbles are created, just like for example, in the UK residential housing market.

While buyers will meet sellers with available cash, prices go up and up and up, all other factors are irrelevant. Anyone could see that the housing market was overbought except the mug punters who believed the dross churned out in the form of hour after hour of prime time property porn TV.

Punters were falling over themselves to buy rabbit hutches in city centres that were genuinely worth about a fifth of the price they were actually paying.

The result was inevitable. Crunch!! Credit dries up, Cash dries up, the bubble bursts, sellers will not match buyers and not only do prices fall, but the volume of transactions collapses as well.

So here we are with factor 2.

Volatility. What are the factors that create the initial switch event?

Well they are quite basic - NEWS.

The news can come from anywhere, any angle, any source, there are hosts of sources of news that affect markets.

The economics of accounts and balance sheets, the movements of fiscal indices such as interest and inflation. Movements of exchange rates between currencies.

Oil prices, food prices, availability of credit and cash are recent movers of markets.

Even the climate and global terrorism play their part in disturbing regional markets.

For the housing market in the UK, the warning signs began early in 2007 with information that sub prime lenders in the USA were dangerously over exposed.

Even then, property prices in the UK continued their upward run for another 6 months such is the power of media propaganda and the nature of human greed and entrenchment.

Basically if you are playing the stock market, the property market or any other market and are trying to keep tabs on the number of things that might affect your trades, you have to attempt to follow all these sources of news 24 hours a day, piecing them together, attempting to predict their effect on the market along the way.

And, to be frank this is nothing short of gambling. Its also extremely stressful.

Part of the problem with stock market day trading is the competition.

Huge corporations, pension funds, investment banks and Wall Street itself are working on huge commissions to profit from these markets.

Their technology is second to none, high tech automated robots compete for easy money.

Insider trading is rife and unless you are “in the know” you will always be fighting to beat these markets as an independent.

To make matters worse the incoming news can occur night and day, and you can awake to an important piece of news that sent your stock into freefall at opening.

In part 2 of this article we examine how and why Betfair has become the platform of choice for traders and other punters, and the software, systems and strategies that are making them consistent profits.

Kayaking For Beginners - How Did Kayaking Come to Exist?

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

A closer look at kayaking and even canoeing will reveal the most cultures in ancient civilization had something to do with kayaking and canoeing. Research proves that paddling was done almost about 8,000 years back. There is even belief that this owes its inception to the creation of the human race.

In the olden days, canoes were dug out of the trunk of trees. As to kayaks, they were made from an assortment of whale bones or wood combined with animal skin. In most cases, fats from animals were used to keep water off the paddles.

Most of the early users of these engaged themselves only in hunting and fishing activities. In some cases, they were used for traditional and cultural activities such as farming or performing funerals rites.

How Was Leisure Incorporated Into Kayaking?

As far back as the end of the first half of the 19th Century, these traditional uses of kayaks and canoe began making way for leisure activities. Canoes were designed not only for farming or transportation, but were made for purposes of leisure. This later gave birth to canoe festivals.

It was on one of such occasions that a kayak was designed and this was done by John MacGregor. He used this to sail the waters of the Middle East and Europe and this was done with two-edged paddles. He named this the ‘Rob Roy’. This later aroused a global awareness and his exploits turned out to be global news. This invention of his led others to follow suit. In so doing, they made kayaking common and popular.

What about the Folding Kayak?

During the start of the 20th century, the folding kayak came to be popular. Made of wood and perfected with rubber, they were very comfortable to be used. People began considering this type of kayaks before any other. They were mostly designed in Austria and Germany. In 1905, they were manufactured in great numbers. This was especially prior to the purchase of a particular design from a student by a business.

A little later and precisely during the 1930s, they were commonly used for leisure and mostly in fast-moving waters. It is even known that these were employed during World War II to undertake on underground sea assignments. From then, modernity crept in and today, the folding kayak has been modified with lots of materials with ease of use and comfort making them first choices.

What Contributed To The Designing Of Modern Kayaks?

An additional aspect that encouraged the designing of modern kayaks was the British Arctic Air Route mission to Greenland in the 1930s. The Inuit people of Greenland were great kayakers. Their devices were closely surveyed by these British explorers. A lot of this was done thanks to Henry George, a part of the mission. This led to the manufacture of smaller models of kayaks which were very convenient to be used in choppy waters.

Although kayaking for leisure came to be just the same time as it did in Europe, there were some differences in what was made. What was obtained in the North followed the patterns or models of what was customary in Alaska and most of the Northwest regions. From then onwards and specifically in 1972, modern materials such as aluminum and wood were used to produce kayaks.

Remodeling and Modernization to Meet Particular Demands

In 1972, multiple kayaks were produced by three corporations. It was at this same time that the Slalom kayaking was officially accepted as an Olympic item. From this period, the making of kayaks has been modernized and remodeled to meet particular demands. Every kayaker is able today to decide on what to use that will call for ease of use and safety. Keep in mind that no matter your intended purpose for kayaking, there is an assortment of equipments and guidelines at your disposal, all meant to give you safety and comfort.

Boars or Wild Hogs Are a Tough Test For Any Hunter

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

South Carolina boar hunting is well known in hunting circles. Boars or wild hogs can be a tough test for any hunter. They are hunted in a variety of ways: by rifle, by bow, or knife for the brave hunter. A wild boar can range from as little as one hundred pounds to three hundred and fifty pounds. Some wild boars have been known to attack if they feel threatened, so this is not a sport for the faint of heart. There are limits on how many boar you can kill in a day and you must purchase a hunting permit before hunting.

There are many farm and hunting lodges in South Carolina that offer hunting services. These South Carolina boar hunting establishments offer a variety of services. Some have lodges where you can stay for days and hunt. The packages with most companies will be a bunkhouse or bed and breakfast type setting. These houses often have many bedrooms, with one common meeting and dining area. Meals are usually included, along with good ol’ southern hospitality. You will find most places offer a feeling of down home fun with friendly accommodations. Some companies brag that you will have such a great time, you’ll never want to leave.

Some packages will offer a guaranteed kill. In this case, you will only pay the hunting fee if you make a kill. However, you will still be responsible for any accommodation fees. In these hunting packages, you will be taken out to the various areas of the property, and the guide will help you in tracking your boar. They may offer hunts that are assisted by dogs as well. In this case, the dog will track down the boar and trap it in place until the hunters can arrive.

Many hunting establishments use tree stand or box stands for the hunts. The companies scout the areas often to find which spots the boars are in most. They then bait the area with corn and other food and put a stand in place. With some companies, the guide can leave you in the stand to hunt on your own if you prefer. However, some companies do offer roaming hunts as well. In these instances, a group or party will join together and roam a certain area of the property to hunt. Some people prefer this method, while others prefer the solitude. Many companies also offer you the opportunity to hunt in the early morning or late afternoon.

There are many other amenities available depending on the farm or lodge. Many South Carolina boar hunting establishments offer boar and deer hunting. Some places even offer turkey or quail hunting as well. After you have made your prize kill, most establishments offer butchering and packaging for a small fee. Some places even have taxidermy or mounting services. Each lodge will have a freezer or refrigerator to preserve you meat until you go home. They will even ice it down and put it into your cooler for the ride.

Sport Climbing. What is it and What Makes it Different From Normal Rock Climbing?

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

A very exhilarating sport indeed, sport climbing or sport rock climbing is more or less a rock climbing race to see who first can reach up the rock. But wait, is not rock climbing a very dangerous activity, they could fall if not careful, much less to be racing. Well fortunately in this particular event instead of the attaching anchors as he/she climbs, the rock already has permanent anchors attached to the rock, and in addition they also utilize protection in the race, so the racer can concentrate all their energy into actually racing without the worry of falling. Great is it not?

Sport climbing in depth.

In sport climbing there are several important terms any sport climber or sport climber enthusiast need to know. These following paragraphs well take a look an in depth look at what they are. These terms are basically descriptions of the equipment utilized by the climbers in the race.

First and furthermost is the basics, which are runners, a helmet, climbing shoes and a chalk bag. The runners or sling are used in order to hold equipment and in times to connect to rocks as the racer progresses. A helmet and climbing shoes is pretty much self explanatory by just mentioning them. Lastly for this set, the chalk is used to keep the climber’s hand dry during the climb.

Next up is the rope, called dynamic rope which in itself is different from the normal rope used in rock climbing called static rope. What is the difference? Well dynamic rope is a unique rope that is manufactured to be stretchable where the static is not, giving it the ability to handle an increased amount of stress without worry of the rope failing on them.

Unique also to sport climbing is what is called the quickdraw. And no, it is not where you pull your gun out very quickly. It is instead what is used by climbers to attach to the bolt anchors, previously mentioned, and to the protection while the climber ascends. A quickdraw a sling with two carabiners connected by a loop of webbing (which is usually less that a foot in length). These can either be ordered pre-made or if so desired made by the climber themselves, made in different several different sizes and styles to fit the harness and ropes used by the climber.

A belay device not of course unique to sport climbing is often utilized. This device is a used as a mechanical break used to control the belay rope. The primary purpose of the belay device is to lock off the rope without any effort. Belay devices like quickdraws come in all different kinds, each with there own specific specifications. Choosing one is usually dependent on the climber’s preference and specific need.

Lastly and definitely not least is a climbing harness which is used with the belay to anchor the climber in. This is mainly a belt with loops which the legs go through whereby the quickdraws and belays are connected to anchor the climber to the rock face. Also in addition to the basic sit harness there are also the chest harness and the full body harness, which each offering more support and body attachments than the other.

This more or less a rundown of what is involved in sport climbing; hopefully I did not leave anything out.

Rock climbing is an extremely exciting activity to participate in, the thrill is unimaginable for anyone no matter how many times you have tried it. Find all you need to know at Shinblaze Rock Climbing Resource

Deciding on the Right Skateboard Deck For You

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

The skateboard deck is the most important part of the whole skateboard. It is the part to which all other parts are attached and allows all the parts to work together. The deck is what you stand on and what determines how well you can maneuver and operate the skateboard. Your size and the size of the deck are related - if you are a smaller person you can use a smaller deck more effectively than a bigger person. You may have a preference for a deck size but make sure the size you get is the right size for you.

An average skateboard deck is between 7 and 8 inches wide. It may sound like a small range but the size does make a difference in the performance of the board. Think about how you will use your skateboard and what kind of tricks or stunts you want to be able to do. The smaller the deck, the easier it will be to do flips and other tricks.

It is worth it to spend more on a skateboard deck that is well made and will last. You will spend a lot more replacing cheap ones over and over again than you would if you spent more on a good quality one in the first place. You’ll save money by investing in a good skateboard deck.

Your skateboard deck should be a minimum of 32″ long in most cases. There are some people who do special tricks or stunts that may need a different size deck but that’s a rare situation. Although the deck height doesn’t affect your skating as much, you still want to give careful consideration to the deck height before you buy a board.

The nose and tail of the skateboard deck will affect how you are able to skate. A nose and tail that are more curved will allow you to do a wider variety of stunts while flatter ones will be more limiting. It is important that you skateboard allows you to do as much with it as possible. If you hope to master some of the more difficult stunts, you’ll want to look for a nose and tail with more of a curve.

While skateboard decks can be very visually appealing, the appearance of the deck is not what you want to focus on when deciding on a skateboard. It may be hard to resist that perfect looking board, but think about how it will perform and what you tricks will be able to do on it. A board that looks good but doesn’t do what you want it to do isn’t going to make you happy. If you buy a skateboard based on appearance alone, it will probably end up gathering dust in your room and will be a waste of money. Make sure you find a skateboard that will let you do what you really want, not limit your performance.

You’ll have to try out a lot of different skateboard decks before you buy if you want to make the best decision possible. The more kinds of decks you try, the more you’ll get a feel for what they can do and if they are for you. All retail stores should have experts available to give you advice and should encourage you to try out a variety of boards before deciding on one to purchase. Retailers know that the more helpful they are and the more satisfied you are with your purchase, the more likely you will be to shop there again.

Don’t rush into buying a skateboard without carefully considering how the deck will work for you and your style of skating as well as for your experience level. You aren’t going to be happy with a skateboard that doesn’t allow you to do all the tricks and stunts you want to do. Often, new skateboarders don’t put enough thought into choosing a skateboard deck and end up giving up on skating because they get frustrated with their new skateboard. The right skateboard can make all the difference, especially for new skateboarders purchasing their first board.

Skateboard wheels play a very important role on skateboards. Because wheels make skateboards move, wheels make skateboarding become a popular sport. There are different kinds and size of skateboard wheels to meet different requirement. SkateboardsPro.com is an online skateboards and accessories supplier providing many brands of complete skateboards and accessories.

All About Quail Hunting

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Quail hunting has been a tradition in the southern states for many years. Often referred to as Quail Country, states from Texas to Mississippi have been offering quail hunting for many years. Most quail lodges were converted from old cotton plantations in the late 1800’s. Many were actually purchased by wealthy northerners, but there are quite a few still owned and ran by third and fourth generation southerners. Most of these lodges were family businesses. As quail hunting became a major sport, many lodges started catering to exclusive clientele only. Many such establishments are still in place today; they cannot be reached by the public and offer invitation only events.

There are many ways to quail hunt. Some hunters prefer a blind or hunting room. However, many prefer to hunt from horseback or from a vehicle. Hunting dogs are often used for scaring up the quail and chasing them into the open. Many hunting establishments are mostly wooded with some swampy areas. These conditions often make it easier to hunt with a dog. Some lodges will even offer the option to hunt from a horse drawn carriage.

One of the best options you can take, if you are interested in Quail hunting, is to plan an all inclusive stay at a hunting lodge. The hunting lodges will offer sleeping arrangements, as well as all meals. You can pay one set price and use the guide service, as well as guns to hunt. These lodges offer you the opportunity to arrive in your regular clothes and enjoy a weekend of hunting. No need to bring all your stuff from home. This can be especially convenient if you will be flying in from another location. These lodges often offer many amenities, such as Jacuzzis or hot tubs as well. You can relax in the warmth after a long cold day in the field.

However, if you will be quail hunting close to home, you may need to do a little research into which hunting equipment is necessary. You will need a shotgun with bird shot ammo first and fore most. Another thing to purchase will be camouflage clothing. You should consider something warm since it can often be cold in the fields. Depending on the type of quail you are hunting, you may need to purchase a call. This device will make noise that sounds similar to a quail mating call and when you blow on the device any quail in the area will call back. Hunters use these devices to trick the quail into thinking another bird is calling and draw them in.

One of the most important aspects of quail hunting is to be quiet. You must understand that young quail may not be aware of strange noises, but as the season progresses things will change. As quail grow, they learn to identify sounds like truck doors or human voices. You must learn to function even with your dogs in quiet. Most hunters will train there dogs to respond to sounds of nature or calls so they don’t have to speak. This aspect of hunting can be the hardest, even for a seasoned hunter.

Quail Hunting - The Sport of Kings

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Quail hunting has often been called the aristocrat’s sport. Maybe it is because you are not required to get up before dawn and freeze in a blind for many hours before you can take your shot as in duck hunting.

Quail hunting is very much a gentleman’s game. It is often a participator and a spectator sport all at the same time. Usually a pair of hunters, along with a pair of bird dogs, are in the field together.

It can be one of life’s greatest experiences to watch you favorite pair of bird dogs run through the woods, chasing the scent of a bobwhite. Add to this mix your hunting buddy, and you have the makings of a great day of hunting.

You need to have the proper gear before you set out on your quail hunting expedition. Gortex or Camo boots are recommended, but in the south you may want to invest in a good pair of snake boots, since the rattlesnakes and the quail seasons often overlap and share the same habitat in the fall. Find a good pair of briar faced ‘brush’ pants. This way you don’t get poked by the briars and thorns. One of the quails favorite hiding places in the brush, briars, and thorns. You’ll need a vest to hold your shells and game and a hunter’s orange vest is essential. This type of hunting does not require camouflage. You must be able to be seen by the other hunters close to you. Quail are notorious for their unpredictable and crazy flight patterns. Each and every hunter needs to be able to see each other at all times.

You also need to have a shotgun that is best for quail hunting. You can use every gauge of shotgun from 410 to 12. It’s far more important to get the right choke and barrel length. You need a shorter barrel and a more open choke for quail hunting. A 26 inch barrel and a skeet choke are probably the best. The 20 gauge is probably the most common gauge, but the 28 gauge is gaining popularity too.

Most quail hunters will have a pair of dogs in the field with them. A second pair and a second hunter is good because each dog will see who can find the quail first. The first dog to locate a covey of quail will freeze or point. The second dog will honor the first dog by pointing at that dog.

This is when the fun starts. Here comes the covey flush. Be sure you know exactly where the other hunters are and practice very strict gun discipline. You need to approach the covey from behind the dogs, with your muzzle pointed skyward. The shotgun’s safety should remain on until you place the gun against your shoulder. As the two hunters approach the dogs, be sure you are in a straight line for the safety of both of you.

Never cross the midway point between you and the hunter on your side. This is dangerous. Don’t take shots at low flying quail either. This can cause you to lose one of your dogs. Be sure to practice good sportsmanship and gun safety to make your hunting experience truly unique.

South Carolina - The Place to Hunt Boar

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

For the hunting enthusiast, few things can be more satisfying that hunting for wild boar. South Carolina has one of the largest populations of wild boar in the United States. These animals can be especially vicious, making the hunt that much more exciting.

South Carolina offers a number of options for hunting boar. On January 2 of every year, the Manchester State Forest, located near Sumter, holds a public-land, post season hunt. In February, you can also hunt with dogs for about three weeks out of the month.

January is usually one of the best times to hunt hogs at Manchester, as long as the river is not flooded. Many people hunt around the bottomlands, and the hogs will try to leave the area with rising water. The boars come up to the high ground and the sand ridges. These boar located on the high ground can still be hunted, because they are still inside the boundaries of the forest. The only restrictions in this area are that you cannot remove a live boar from the forest and you are not allowed to bait the hogs.

There are also a number of primitive weapon hunts for boar available. From January to March, a special muzzleloader and archery hunt is usually scheduled at the Santee Dam in Clarendon County. That’s two months that you are able to hung boar on public land. No dogs are allowed, so you must be a still hunter only. At the same time, you don’t’ have to worry about the intense action that a dog hunt brings. There is no limit to the number of boar you can take during this hunt.

Anyone who might have access to some private land that lies along the lower parts of the South Carolina’s river areas has access to these wild hogs. The hogs have been roaming around this state since the Spanish settlers came up the Savannah River back in the 1500’s. Many of the wild boars in this state are the offspring of hogs that were turned loose to feed on the land in the fall. Many of these hogs never returned to their pen. Still others were released intentionally to get hogs established in lands that had a low hog population. South Carolina law prevents hunters from trapping and then releasing any boar that was captured in another county.

The boar season runs from January to December. Sunday hunting in South Carolina is only allowed on private land. Wild boars are so plentiful there is often no limit set on the number you can bag. Many hunting lodges offer wild boar hunting trips and guarantee a kill. Several of these lodges will also clean and butcher the hog for you.

There are a couple of places in South Carolina that do not allow boar hunting with a big game rifle. These regions include the Game Zone One, in the counties of Greenville, Pickens, and Oconee. However, that still leaves a very large area for you to pursue the wild boar.

Albie Berk enjoys hunting and sharing what he has learned and any successful tips he can with others. He enjoys South Carolina hunting and usually stays at Carolina Buck and Boar.

Five Tips For Getting Started With Kayaking

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Kayaking is a great sport that combines physical activity with the beauty and tranquility of nature. If you would like to get started with this sport, there are a few things you need to know. As with any form of outdoor recreation, learning the basics before you begin will make your kayaking adventure much more enjoyable.

Tip 1 - Choose the Right Kayak

Choosing the right kayak is the first step on your adventure. There are many different types out there. The boat that is right for you will depend on your goals as a kayak enthusiast.

First, what type of water will you be using your boat on? Calm water and fast-moving water require different boats. Are you going to paddle by yourself, or will you want someone else with you? How often do you anticipate using your boat? The more often you use it, the more durable you will want the kayak to be.

You can always rent kayaks first to get the feel for the different types that are available.

Once you have chosen the right boat, carefully time your purchase. Buying in the off-season will help you get an affordable price. You can also shop online or buy your boat through the classifieds. Before shopping, however, make sure you know what you want. Visit a few showrooms to get an idea of what is available.

Tip 2 - Getting the Right Gear

Other than the boat itself, what do you need to start kayaking? One of the most important pieces of safety equipment that every person in a kayak needs is a PFD, or Personal Flotation Device. These are high-tech life vests that will keep you above water if the boat should capsize. Kayaking requires a Type II or Type V PFD. These are lightweight, fairly easy to put on, and quite fashionable, not like the life vests you are probably picturing.

Typically, the more you pay for a PFD the more comfortable it will be. The more expensive models have softer foam and can be adjusted easier than the cheaper options. If you need to save money, consider buying new.

The other piece of equipment you will need is a kayak paddle. If you can, try out a variety of paddle types. If you do not have this luxury, you will probably be happy with an aluminum shaft adjustable paddle with a flat blade that has blunt or tapered ends as you are beginning your kayaking adventure. After you have learned more about the sport you may want to upgrade your paddle, but this paddle will give you the flexibility you need to paddle in a variety of situations.

Tip 3 - Getting in and out of the Kayak

Now that you have a kayak and your basic gear, you are ready to begin. You take your boat to the river, don your PFD, and suddenly realize you have no idea how to get into the kayak. Here is what you need to know.

If you are in shallow water, dip your paddle into the water and brace it against the side of the kayak to keep it steady. You can also use the dock edge to steady the boat if you are in deep water. Once the boat is steady, sit on the edge of the dock with your legs hanging over the side. Line your feet up evenly with your entry point, and drop the line into the cockpit. Swing one foot and then the other into the cockpit, crouch down, and sit. Grab your paddle, adjust your line so it is out of the way, and you are ready to go. Getting out of the kayak is basically the same, only backwards. Be sure to keep a good hand on your paddle so that you do not lose it.

Tip 4 - Paddle Correctly

Paddling does involve exercise, but it should not be exhausting. Avoid using a motion that is similar to digging into the sand. Instead, lean back in your seat and relax. This not only helps you paddle more efficiently, but it also keeps the boat stable. Hold the paddle in both hands using an over-handed hold. Your thumbs should be underneath the bar. Let your torso make most of the movements. Pull with the arm that is making the downward stroke and push the shaft away with the arm that is making the upward stroke. This sounds complicated, but you will get the rhythm as you practice.

Tip 5 - Be Prepared

There are some things that you need to have ready in order to be safe on the water. Make sure that you have an audible safety signal device clipped to your PFD. Also, be sure that you have a spare paddle, especially if your kayaking trip will be long. Paddles can get lost in deep water, so having a spare is always a good idea. This can be a collapsible paddle if you need to save room.

Before you leave, check the weather and water conditions, not just in your current location, but also at your destination. If a storm is approaching, postpone your trip. This is essential if you are a beginner, because a sudden storm could mean disaster.

A repair kit and first aid kit are also important. Be sure that your repair kit includes some duct tape. Your first aid kit must be contained in an airtight, waterproof container. Finally, pack a flashlight, even if you do not intend to be on the water at night. If you get stranded after dark, a flashlight will keep you safe and help you find your way to shore.

With these tips, you should be as prepared as possible to start kayaking. Remember to go with experienced kayak enthusiasts the first few times you go out, as they can help you with the problems you will face as you learn this exciting sport.

Should You Join a Lottery Syndicate?

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

This article attempts to highlight the positive and negative features of playing the lottery as a participant of a lotto syndicate. After all the points are considered I believe it is plain to see that a lotto syndicate is still the most effective way to play your favourite lottery game if you are looking for a sizeable odds advantage.

It is widely appreciated that a lotto syndicate is without doubt the wisest way to play a part in any lottery if you are looking to improve your probability of sharing the jackpot. In reality, more than one quarter of all lottery jackpot wins are collected by syndicates. These lotto syndicates are usually set up by groups of workmates or friends who have the one ambition of improving their odds of scooping some lotto cash. Operating collectively in this way gives each member of the syndicate a greater number of winning chances but at the same time making sure each person’s spend is kept as low as possible.

Playing as a member of a lottery syndicate can come with a sizeable odds advantage more than ever if the syndicate has a larger quantity of people participating. However, being a syndicate member also has some negative aspects.

The first and possibly the most evident negative feature of a syndicate is the fact that all winnings are split between all participants in the syndicate equally. For that reason, the larger quantity of syndicate members there are, the lower the cash sum each of these members will collect. Because of this, a considerable lotto syndicate win may only generate a sufficient amount of prize money for each member to pay for a holiday or a new television; but definitely not sufficient to quit the day job and purchase a Pacific island! If every syndicate member is aware of this potential outcome then everybody should be cheerful.

The second obstacle with lottery syndicates is linked to the point made above. Stories can at times be viewed in the newspapers regarding a syndicate member(s) who is loathed to distribute the prize money to colleagues and instead tries to keep it. This can definitely be a big dilemma if the syndicate has been formed without using a legally binding syndicate contract. If this is the case, every member of the syndicate has then got to show in legal terms that they have actually been ripped off. There have also been situations where a member of a syndicate has lost their share of the prize money owing to tardy or non payment of their syndicate fee. There have been a number of cases where legal action has taken place as a result of this happening.

The third setback that may develop if no proper syndicate agreement is in place is that of inheritance tax issues. If the controller of the syndicate collects the prize money and then “gifts” each member their equal share, then this tax could become an issue for all the syndicate members.

Problems such as this can be scaled down therefore simplifying the whole process. If the syndicate is created by utilizing a legally binding lottery syndicate agreement then any of the issues highlighted here will cause no further problems. Such syndicate contracts can be downloaded from your lotto provider’s internet site and in many cases can be picked up from your lottery retailer.

There isn’t much doubt that the benefits of joining a lottery syndicate are far greater than any negative points involved.
